Just want to see where everyone stands. I had another look at Mumble, looks like they improved since last time, but there "official site" is outdated, and it keeps saying there "offline but can message them"

If anything, its a pretty decent client. I didn't like it at first but now it seems cool. The only thing really is the ACL system. Seems confusing, just like how Teamspeak 3 Permissions was when I first saw them.

Teamspeak 3 on the other hand, seems a bit more user friendly. I used to like Vent more, til Ts3 came about, back when TS2 was all we had. It's more like a hit or miss with teamspeak 3. Setting up can be a pain in the ass, but after some help from the teamspeak forums, I was able to get though it.

All in all, I like teamspeak 3 more over Mumble, but ofc, I haven't used mumble that much yet.

Would it be worth it having a Mumble server?

I have found mumble to cause more lag when playing doom than ts3, so that is an instant turn off.

Teamspeak seems to be more lightweight, and I like its option of Opus as a voice codec (sounds a lot better than Speex) and its voice activation over Mumble. Mumble's voice activation is really bloody dodgy no matter how much I tried tweaking it. The only hurdle I see for TS is setting up permissions, and that's only if you're the administrator.

Plus, nearly everyone I know except one group uses TS over Mumble, so I have no reason to deal with it at all.

So.. I take it having a mumble server isn't worth it?

Nope. TS all the way.

Eh well I had one on TSPG for awhile, But.. I guess I will go and remove it. I could of sworn someone around here wanted one so badly.. Ohwell

Mumble is more lightweight hands down.
I've never experienced lag with mumble and playing doom. Although I can't speak for that issue on a windows OS.
Mumble allows you to create your own certs. This is why I prefer it.

I do admit the voice quality when using ts3 even in encrypted rooms is better than mumble. And ehrrmergerd I get to make pretty icons and avatars to show how special snowflake i am in ts3

I guess it's a tie for me.
