The tittle say all. While I was outside from doom community I played a lot PS3 as well X360 (more this) and I was thought about what is happening with FPS genre today, I mean, everyone is trying to copy / compare / take ideas from COD, I do not say it's bad but for me there are two things that kill the game:

1.- Their community is full of 12-14 years old kids with their mics insulting you when you block them, kill them, etc. as well 16-19 years old players talking just shit (things irrelevant to game) and most in PS3 since XBL have xbox party.

2.- They release a game (or two) almost each year and they don't change, besides, they aren't cheap (DLC...)

but more in-topic, for you what was the latest good FPS? i'm not a big "halo fan" but halo 2 had that thing, i don't know what but it was just amazing, even I played it 2 years late.

I don't say new FPS are shit but they aren't improving things.

just a thing with FPS i mean Shooters, don't come with "minecraft". Just feel those "Quake vs UT" days (sadly in those times I weren't a "player")

The new Shadow Warrior is nice. Definitely worth playing (if your rig can handle it).

as far as what ive gotten to play, probably bioshock infinite. the gameplay was a bit rocky at times, but the story, characters, gun design, game feel, and world were just sublime.

if you're looking for a more classic run and gun action-centric shooter, i cant help you, but ive heard many good things about the new shadow warrior and rise of the triad.

I don't play many modern games, but i did play Rage quite recently. I like the game and suggest it to anyone wanting some good action.

Most recent FPS I played was probably painkiller: hell and damnation, which I love but not many play MP.

serious sam 3's still pretty cool

although the last time I played it was with synert, and we had infinite ammo, cannons, miniguns, and sniper rifles

so yeah the difficulty curve might've been thrown off a bit

Well, that would be either Bioshock Infinite or BulletStorm.

I know Timesplitters: Future Perfect was pretty great. I haven't played that many if any new FPS games (I have no steam so no new Shadow Warrior for me for now). If it really counts, the Metroid Prime games (this includes Hunters BTW) ranged from awesome (first two Primes) to good (Hunters).

I still have Red Steel to do as well, and if that's good, maybe Red Steel 2.

I would have to say the new ROTT kind of took the stage of being pretty damn good, but it doesn't hold itself to being the best, best in my opinion would have to be UT04. Going out of the multiplayer range, then it would have to be ROTT.

portal 2, ok there isnt realy shooting in the traditional sense but it was awesome nonetheless.

The recent FPS game I've played was Black Ops 2 on PC.

I agree, Bioshock Infinite was pretty awesome, and probably the best FPS this year, but I wouldn't know since I haven't played Battlefield 4. Or 3. Or any of them.

I've heard some mixed things on Infinite actually. I've heard it's awful from some people actually.

Those people probably are critics, since the gameplay is indeed kind of stale. But the Bioshock games' gameplay, in general, is stale, the only difference being Plasmids/Vigors. Though you can only rely on only some of those to do most of your job.

It's a bit of a mixed bag, but the ideas and concepts in it are solid. It's a great "world" and has tons of potential. I am torn over buying the DLC season pass or just waiting for the reviews to come in on select releases that get better reviews.

ah yeah that one is pretty good, but idk if count as FPS [since you use a gun ;)]

bioshock is not bad but i feel it like a movie :/, not finished the game so i can't talk about it

Far Cry 3?

I'm loving Serious Sam 3.
A different kind of fps can be Counter Strike: Global Offensive, the best Counter Strike out of any doubt.
If you're looking for something fancy and you like those Tower Defense games be sure to try Sanctum (1 or 2).
If you prefer something like Doom, and you went through Serious Sam 3 already, Hard Reset is quite interesting.

I didn't try Shadow Warrior or Rise of the Triad so I can't say.

If I've to pick one, I can't choose one above the others, if I have to then I'd go for Counter Strike: Global Offensive but just because I like it.
