As we all know there is a thread on what we hate about developers doing in their games. Now, we are going to flip the switch and talk about what we like about developers doing in their games.

I really like it when developers include decent modding tools with their games.

I like when
Gameplay + plot > graphics + smooth face animations in dialogues

I really like when developers talk with their fans.
Like, one-on-one.

Lord knows it's pretty much an impossibility with bigger devs and/or more psychotic fanbases, but.

Not ruin the game with countless dlc, and I like it when they bring something new to the table instead of re-hashing their old styles. *Glares at CoD*

I like it when games don't toss (good) singleplayer aside purely for the sake of multiplayer

I really like it when developers add subtle humor to the game. I was cracking up in TF2 when the Halloween announcers were arguing with each other during gameplay.

...when the game is optimized well, so its requirements are proportional to its graphics
...when controls are good and very responsive
...when you get small prizes instead of bugs when seeking for secrets or testing some very specific situations
...when characters are not cookie-cutter ones, especially female characters
...when they let you have fun allowing you to mess with the world, physics and possibilities
...when bugs are fixed quickly, and continuously
...when the game is moddable, allowing the community to create their vision of the fictional world

When a turn-based strategy game has an AI, that, despite basically having exact same initial situation and resources as I do, can actually play up to my game, or, who knows, even top it.

I really like it when developers take feedback of their games basically to their hearts and try to fix the bugs, if there are, or make a better game from all of those mistakes (Gas Guzzlers Extreme).

I love it when they plan out the story uniquely for a player that's amazing, as well as taking a risk to be different and make something unique; I'm looking at you "Gone Home", "L.A Noire", and "Other M".

I'm also a fan when the game does not necessarily tell you how to play with giant text saying "PRESS X TO LEARN COMMON SENSE", but show you via level design and intuitiveness.

I really like when developers port their game to Linux... and it runs as well as on the original platform.

Make weapons niche based instead of hierarchical. Also, when said weapons are never obsolete.
