Spoiler: Personal message (Open)
Due to a recent community argument, I have decided to post this.
It is generalized and intended for educational purposes, to raise awareness on an important issue.
If you or someone you know has contemplated suicide and is doubting that things will improve, wondering if it's worth it, just remember that it gets better.

Suicide is something that people have joked about on and off over the years, sometimes in a humorous manner, sometimes in an offensive manner, but this does not detract from the issue being serious. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, and know that making jokes about sensitive subjects such as this does not magically make you the worst person in the world.

I'd like to think that our forum is open for different individuals and ideas to come together and just do their own thing, but sometimes things get a bit heated and sometimes you just need to take a break.

[UD] infurnus, Thank you for posting this.

Though the video doesn't pertain to me, I know a great deal of individuals who have been treated in this way. They've been attacked and put down, all because of the way they dress or their sexual orientation. They have shown great courage just living each day dealing with these hurtful experiences with dignity and grace. I'm extremely honored to know them and call them friend.

I'm also extremely proud that I am part of a community that has individuals within it that understands this as well. Though I've only recently joined the forums, I've been playing Zandronum for a while now. In fact, during the old Skulltag days, I used this as my means to play one of my favorite games of all time. I'm pleased that the powers that be in the forum are making a stand against this type of painful and hurtful behavior. Yes, they may be only words. But words can cut deep and when a person is at a weak point in their life, they could take them to heart. Thank you for being a warrior for equality in game and on the forums.

Keep up the fight.

For Canadians: http://www.suicidehotlines.com/canada.html

As someone who has dealt with this on a personal side, rest assured, things look up. It's no laughing matter when someone threatens, attempts and succeeds in taking their own life. Suicide is a coping mechanism. Your mind can only cope with so much, and when people become overwhelmed with sorrow and cannot deal with the issues at hand, it feels like suicide is the best and only option.

Aside from that, we may not be professional mental health care workers, but if you are having issues and don't feel like you can call a hotline or confide in anyone else IRL, feel free to PM administration here. As always, we're willing to listen and talk.

Online or not, it's a human on the other side of the keyboard.
