So there we go, Flynn killed the Icon of Sin, every demon is dead, he comes back to earth.....but what do you think happened after the events of DOOM 2? Probably what i think happened was:

The whole world is rebuilding itself, many people died after the demon invasion, the UAC was blamed for the invasion, UAC collapses, Flynn Taggart became a war veteran, after years he became a Military Drill instructor and shit like that

What is your theory? (Be serious, no shit like "but then DOOMGuy, was a zombie!!!!!!!")

Edit: Thank you to all the theories you gave, now we go further beyond, what happened after the classic DOOM games, after DOOM, DOOM 2 Happened, then TNT Evilution happened, and then Plutonia happened, what happens next?

Seriously though, by my vision of doom-verse, Doomguy's fight was only a minor part of the war. Flynn did not stop the war by destroying the Icon of Sin - he only stopped the initial wave. Hell only sent a minor part of their forces to conquer Earth, thinking it would be more than enough - but Doomguy singlehandely blasted through it like a boss. This did not stop Hell from trying to conquer Earth though - it just showed them that they are dealing with something more than "a whole bunch of useless weakling mortals". The damage caused by destruction of the Icon was considerable, but Hell managed to recover, and after that, it attacked in it's full power. A power so large that even Doomguy, with all of his extreme awesomeness, would stand no chance.

However, not only Hell was recovering from the war. Guys at UAC have foreseen a possible return of Hell Forces, and decided to get themselves ready. They stopped caring about terraforming and other stuff and started to focus solely on means of aqquiring ludicrous firepower - new weaponry, new vehicles, new cybor-soldiers or something, and of course training new soldiers. So when Hell returned, they met not just one awesome marine, but a whole bunch of people. With UAC in charge, the battle between two worlds became large-scale and is still raging.

Doomguy in question was sent on a few missions here and there(Final Doom), then he either died or retired from action.

So yeah something like that.

In TNT he seems to be in command and only survived because he was away when the hellish starship arrived and rained hell on the base.. so yea I guess TNT happened after Doom 2

Well DOOM 64 and Final DOOM can be considered cannon, but the sad thing is id Software never confirmed if those games were cannon or not :(

It's been 20 years and nobody has thought of stuffing cannonballs into them?

I personally think TNT came first, maybe by Plutonia afterwards and then by all the pwads. Not that it matters much. Gameplay comes first, no?

DooM was never really about the story... the only thing that mattered was to shoot everything in you sights.

Nah, but it had a story, and they tell the story after you finish a chapter (Except for DOOM 2, obviously)

After doom 2: I dunno, he probably kept kicking ass while going back to earth.
then he has promoted to some-kind-of-commander and sent to Io. (TNT)
Then i don't know how the hell he came back (probably from hell again) and then the UAC tried to make something that closed hell gates and it failed (Plutonia).
Then <insert pwads here> happened and doomguy got older, and the demons stronger (Doom 64).
Then doomguy stayed in hell because he could until some aliens made him fight for fun. (Quake 3)

Quake III happened.

^ this. anyway, i concord with some of us about what the order after DOOM 2 was TNT, Plutonia and 64, after all he seems to erradicate all "life" in hell in DOOM 64

After map 06.... some dialog. Before the factory level....more story telling..... there are more story telling text cutscenes but most people skip 'em cause doom is "SHOOT, RUN AND NAVIGATE".

And also because the story snippets are... extremely basic. "oh noes there's more demons" "okay the humans are in space but MORE DEMONS" "would you guess, you're in hell now DEMONS"

I would have hoped the poor guy finally got a good night's sleep.

Noonononononono those were the events after doom 2 not including doom 1 and uacmn

I always thought plutonia happened before TNT...
In plutonia people are shutting down portals.. In TNT hell returns on a magical spaceship because there was no portal to this world :P

I've never thought about it, a good doom movie with a plot that can be related with the videogames would be interesting actually, I'm also sure that reading the novels would clarify the ideas but I read only Knee Deep in Dead, unfortunately.
