There was talk years ago about the 'upcoming doom 4', since then i havent heard anything more. Anyone knows if id still works on it or if it was stopped?

I'm pretty sure they're still working on it. But it looks like they don't like to release that much information about it... Which sucks!

Supposed to come around in mid-late 2013 last time I heard.

DOOM 4 is supposed to be on Earth I heard.
They didn't give out much information. I hope they don't make a game with to much realism like COD.

I don't know about that. From what I heard its not suppose to be a sequel, prequel, or remake of DOOM 1, 2, or 3. Its suppose to be something completely new. I wouldn't be supprised if it has a brand new storie with brand new monsters and weapons.

I heard that it's gonna be more like Doom I and II; not Doom 3 with the horror involved. I also heard that they're putting it aside for Quake 5, but this part I'm not completely sure about.

I'm skeptical about Doom 4, that it would be another COD-style pile of crap as that's what seems to be hot on the market these days. I hope I'm wrong.

Well, they pretty much shut down their cellphone department for DooM 4, and Carmack noted that he'd add full support for that upcoming virtual reality device... So it must be big.

To be honest its one of those things that will near never happen, when it does it'll be like 2020. For example, David Braben has been for years saying there is going to be a Elite 4, but I have to see any sign of it.

I'm pretty PRETTY sure that no one has heard more than you around here... and that is that it will be on Earth, it will LIVE up to it's expectations (or so they think), won't be released for quite some time and... will have a new engine.

It better be on Earth and not Phobos or I'll hunt down John Carmack and shove his VR Doom 3 goggles so far up his posterior...

It's viceversa: Carmack or Bethesda (guess Carmack on Twitter) said that id will focus on Doom 4 until it will be completed, to give us a final product deserving the id name on it, and not something as Rage as been.

It will be using id Tech 5, and will be on PC, Xbox, and PS3. John Carmack has stated it is in production, and we will likely see a reveal at E3 2013 or Quakecon 2013. Development started in 2008, so I'm pretty sure they'll have something to show next year.
