I think I remember testing something with Apothem, maybe it was a really early Blackfire.

Apothem was cool, I miss that bro

Common, I kinda hated that Firewolf stoped that Spooky House and the island mods, but he disapeared for foreve >.<, but I think I got my revenge at who dun it heh, he was there, and he was the murder, somehow, I found a jumpmaze like op spot, so he couldn't get me not even spam bertho because I was too high from the floor, too bad he got pissed, then he did a kind of script kick command for kick me because the vote kick was disabled, but a server appeared and wrote:"STOP!", and then he just stopped and disconnected :(, next month my badass camp spot got some extra stuff, invisible walls that blocks you ;----;...

It may not be him, but I remember it was one of the who dun it heads (not zeberpal :p)

I used to rocket jump a bit but I keep getting annoyed at how Zandronum really doesn't like gaming mice so I don't touch Zandronum. When I play Doom, it's usually GZDoom.

Did you at least get your hands on the (vastly incomplete) version that was released?
Nope, didn't even know there was one. Do you have a link per chance? :)
I actually do, as a matter of fact. Step into my time machine...

Here's something you might not figure out on your own. Put your weapon away so you can climb. All you have to do is jump while looking up towards the ledge you want to climb.

As it is, it seems more like a tech demo of sorts. I'm not sure what kind of potential, if any, this can have as something to play on a server. Perhaps this could be interesting if joined with a separate wad that adds like a pistol, hunting rifle, shotgun, etc. It may make an interesting lms map.

It's a shame ambitious projects like this have never been finished. There's this, Spooky House(another firewolf project), Wadaholic's realistic looking wad, Blackfire...

Blackfire was an Apothem project. It was supposed to be massive. Imagine in a 64 player server, an outdoor area with a bunch of buildings. This outdoor area would be the size of a standard large Deathmatch map. You have to control other buildings. These buildings you go into are then ALSO the size of standard Deathmatch maps. Controlling certain buildings would give you different advantages if I recall correctly.
Thanks man! It's so sad this didn't get finished :(

I always thought the detailing style of Sabbyt Martyr looked kinda messy....IGPack had way better quality control.

For me the downfall of Skulltag occured around late 2009/2010 when the port was flooded by mods, namely GVH and it became a new fad but it also seemingly replaced the port's original gamemodes. Following that it was very rare to see CTF, LMS, Skulltag, Possession etc being played in regular public servers outside of FNF events of course, which led to most popular players abandoning the port and the only real item of interest remaining being random games of survival every now and then.
High five - totally agreed!

The days I started with ST (in 2005), there was mainly Survival, Duel and yeah - DEATHMATCH.
I loved those times!! Every evening a crowd played Alien Vandetta and HR -survival, completely new wads for me and just 1 Life, pure fun.
It was in 2006 when I founded the Doomdaddies. Every evening on supergod's servers, first 2 hours Deathmatch, afterwards 3 hours survival, then bed, next day repeat!

The only "new" mod (as far as I remember) was Jumpmaze (and for real, I asked myself "why the heck should I play that seriously?? To curtail Doom and just jump around? Still makes me laugh)
Then GVH came up very strong, afterwards Zombie Horde. I never understood this phenomenon. Suddenly those servers were full of ppl and I asked myself WTF?? I sometimes went on these servers to troll a bit, because I was so fucking bored of these new appearances and "these new kids playing this s***". Sorry for that :-)

In retrospect these were still great times, because it even got worse- The big 8bit MEGAMAN -wave was the next step (in my opinion).

And today, people play mods almost entirely. Call me oldskool, I stick to the good old times. I still enjoy a nice survival evening with a classic or even a new wad. But DOOM!
No 8bit, no ghouls no other weapons ;-)

Ok, enough of critics. Just some random memories:

-PlayRzero got masterbanned for cheating- I had so many Dm's with him and I always doubted someone could be that good!
-I got masterbanned for several months for impersonating Supergod (the very beginning, I just learned how to colorize my name-letters^^)
-there was a script to have a "name-colour-change-during-play" , id Virgil had a very nice one
-in the beginning there was no limitation of "call a vote" - there were guys trolling and calling kickvotes each 2nd second.
-there were not that many Clans as today. I remember DC, SA and PRO being there when we started with DD.

Good ol' times *sigh*

Thankfully this will change for Zandronum 2.0.

Blackfire was an amazing project. I used to help Apothem out a bit back then when I was younger and would test it out with I think Toka? I can't really recall the name of the guy since its been such a while. When Apothem kinda disappeared I never heard of another update for Blackfire. Shame too because it was supposed to be pretty big, and he had been working on a lot of features that would of probably had been one of the best projects out there during his time, and probably for a while too. Those were some good times, especially since we were all mostly DRZ so we always had a place to hang around on IRC.

I remember that. There was a whole "Wall of Shame" thing at the time, that I remember including him, ARG's Firefox, and even ALMN at one time.

It was not Skulltag's finest moment.
