Prolly Epic needs opinions of the community because they lost Cliff Bleszinski and much content of the Unreal series were originated by him.
Like Doom 3 without Romero, it got a completely different way of the original concept of the Classic.
Also, the main focus of Epic is just show the power of their new engine, otherwise if they just went give a continuation to UT with this same idea of the community develop it for them, Unreal Engine 3 can deal perfectly with these lastest revisions on UDK.
