What should I do with my past sin?

Hello everyone! I need to ask you something but first I need to tell you the origins of my story. I first start playing Doom Online on Zdaemon in 2006. It was fun till two clans called [FEAR] and [rAw] started harassing me. I couldn't take it anymore so I came to Skulltag in the beginning of 2008. I first started to make mods on Skulltag but I was mentally scared from those guys harassing me......how do I know? BECAUSE I MADE THIS ABORTION OF A SPRITE.

Be honest, you have to be really fucking depressed to make this pos and call it passable. Is that a fucking growth on his fucking arm?! It was apart of my first mod when I was called Lastwolf. I made it to go with the existing weapon skins at the time. I at least inspired a guy (I think It was CaptainToenail) to finish his work on his Plasmarifle Skin, so it wasn't a complete failure of a project. (Though it did suck major balls) I left skulltag for awhile after a few years of learning to mod and shit and then after I return I found out you could now change skins according to what weapons you were holding. Pretty cool, huh?

Then I saw it.......my crappy looking skin was in use in not just one place.....BUT EVERYWHERE! This damn skin is my fucking Frankenstein monster. ITS ALIVE! ITS ALIVE! ITS ASS! My skin, which I'm ashamed of, was being used by everything! Shouldn't I be proud? I can't be.....I can't even bring myself to look at it... I MEAN WHY DID I EVEN HAVE HIM HUGGING THE DAMN SSG? It brings me to a question...Should I remaster this son of a bitch? Would it be even worth it after all this time? I need to know. This pain must end...

Firstly, you are overreacting. If it is truly as bad as you claim it to be, then how come it is in 70% of mods played frequently on Zanzan?
Secondly, this sprite doesn't look even halfbad. Hell, I'm not even sure if there was anybody who could be able to make a better variation of that sprite. And I know quite a lot of skilled pixelartists.
Thirdly, this is your own sprite, you made it with your own hands! Obviously you are well aware of every tiniest mistake you made on it. Because you made it! Most people don't even realise that he is clutching to his SSG a bit too strong. Nobody I know does. And who could blame them? Oftentimes, people are too busy trying to avoid being splattered by SSG guy to contemplate SSG guy's -theoritical- ugliness.
Fourthly, if you didn't cry out 'I MADE DIS HATE ME PLOX ;_;', I bet about 90% of people on Zanzan wouldn't know he clutches it too tightly, and 99% wouldn't be aware that it was your creation.
Fifthly, I would be very proud to see something made by my hands used, as you claim, 'EVERYWHERE'. I would feel like a bunch of angels fell from the sky, sat on my lap and said in unision "yup, we like your skin. We're gonna use it, k bye".
Also if those guys that are harrasing you don't like your sprite, then they should just make their own version. Otherwise they are bunch of lazy noobs.

Seconding what CloudFlash said here. I find you being nitpicky, the sprite's just fine IMO. It might not be absolutely perfect but does it have to be? It's Doom, you can cut corners sometimes. :P

I dunno man. Back when I first did it, it seemed pretty cool but I know I could have done so much better. I know the whole post seemed overboard but most of it was supposed to be over dramatic. It keeps people entertained sometimes. Whenever I'm done with other things and have time, I might touch up on it.

AlienWolve made a better version from scratch for Super Skulltag. The gun itself doesn't look as huge and there's even reloading animations. /shamelessplug


I don't really see anything wrong with yours though, and it looks fine ingame honestly.

TBH I couldn't tell the difference, so I see no problems at all. I wouldn't call this a sin in the least.


Huge Tip: All modders have their stepping stones as they rise in their time, and they learn their skills as they go on and use them to make something better. (I hope)

Aren't most of the weapon-swapped BASE skins more or less hackjobs?

Hell, most BASE-based (hurr the pun) skins can barely even get their offsets right.

I can't even make Doom sprites. I have done some pixel art though.
