Well if you play for fun they'll be an extra instead of grinding for them.. -this doesnt include diablo. which is a grinding simulator in disguise.

I also like it when a game has a lot of replayability. And if it's a PC game, I also like it when you can make visual/audio changes that suit you.

1. Make a masterpiece by accident (Deus Ex)
2. Make a fuckton of good/creative content (Just Cause 2, Super Metroid)
3. Push the hardware they have to its limits (Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean)

I agree. I don't see what all the Doom3 hate is about. It stood on its own, as a shooter in its own right, with dramatic re-imaginings of the original monsters and weapons.

And it was damn fun to play. :v:
I also had no problems with Doom 3, heck I say that it was a good reimagining of Doom if it was made in newer hardware.
I don't think it was a shit game or anything, I enjoyed it. But I didn't really like the gameplay which was mostly running back and shooting. You're supposed to be running into the fray not away.

This. I also like when developers can take risks to make something different rather than rehash the same old army shooter or sports game.
