I found a rather interesting mod for DarkPlaces by LordHavoc, called DPMod, which adds bots, additional modes of attack, and a damage scaler. While the mod is rather interesting, I'd like to have a standalone bot I can DM with the original Quake weapons. Is it possible to download one, or isolate the bots code for use in regular Quake?
This is the mod I'm referring to: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/download.html

This may be enough.
But just in case, here is a list with download links of other Quake bot mods.

I'd say go EZQuake and use the Frogbots for botting. They're pretty decent - they can hand my ass to me, but then again I'm not exactly a Quakeworld pro.

Unzip it in ${QUAKEDIR}/fbca - EZQuake should automatically detect it.

I looked through the bots in idgames2 and found that a mod called CronoBot is also a pretty decent bot and compatible with DarkPlaces. I'll be looking for more intelligent bots, or looking at crono sources and seeing which ones are the best and how I can tweak them. Chronos are just intelligent enough to take down a newbie, and I'm not exactly pro either, but they're still a decent way to practice Quake DM with the original weapons. I'll check out the other bots when I get bored with Chronobots.
EDIT: I found that Zeus is the best for DarkPlaces. Eight of them, hell even one can hand my ass to me. Chronobot is just target practice compared to Zeus.

EZQuake did not detect fbca. When I did get it loaded by following the directions I could not spawn bots at all.Ijon Tichy wrote: I'd say go EZQuake and use the Frogbots for botting. They're pretty decent - they can hand my ass to me, but then again I'm not exactly a Quakeworld pro.

EDIT: I tried the batch file and put -zone 1024 at the end, and the bots worked fine. I did hear of a modified qwprogs.dat which supports more maps for these bots however. Also, DM3 crashes.
EDIT2: And I discovered Trinca's patch fixes DM3 in addition to pretty much every map I could possibly want to go botting on. I figured I'd also check out the female skin I found while searching, and it is complete.
