Replacing item sprites

I hope I don't come off as an idiot, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to replace the default armor and health bonus sprites with different ones. Im really new at all this, and Ive succeeded in doing a little bit, but Im kinda stumped when it comes to this. Is there a tutorial or guide that someone can point me to? Any help is greatly appreciated.

just add some new sprites with the same name as the health and armor bonus sprites to a wad, and stick that in your skins folder; it'll work
health bonuses are BON1A0, BON1B0, BON1C0, and BON1D0
armor bonuses are BON2A0, BON2B0, BON2C0, BON2D0
