What little nit picks and problems drive you guys up the wall in a map?

Extreme puzzle oriented maps, unnecessary detail that slows down fast paced gameplay (some darkgoth maps are a good example of this), confusing layout and stupid exit switches that blend in walls they were put on.

Secrets that are actually vital to completing a map.

Inconsistently damaging flats.

Bad flow, no hiding places when needed, not enough ammo or health when direly needed, bad enemy placement, bad weapon placement, eye sore texture use that makes your eyes bleed or cause you to seizure when you see them, complete BS traps that you can't escape from, cookie cutter form for a map, and constant disregard for making the map look a lot better with a lot simpler of a build.

Strangely enough, I can agree with this! XD
Crate mazes can get on just about anyone's nerves, even mine!

Says the guy with a crate for an avatar.. :P

I think the worst of them for me is when a map requires you to find secrets to progress.. unless the secret is like totally obvious I can find it when I see it.

Could it be that this could happen because gasp Hell has caves?

Anyway, inconsistency with flats used for damage floors, instantly giving you the SSG, building a mapset around the SSG, a lack of rocket launcher or plasma rifle, swimming in shells when you're empty with everything else, crusher traps that don't give enough warning, etc etc.

Well if where talking about singleplayer maps then things like;
...putting barons on the first map of a wad when you get nothing more then a shotgun to fight them,
...making traps where the player has to know exactly whats coming to have any change of serviving, (ex. walking into a hallway where a door opens behind with 10 chaingunners)
...seeing a Cyberdemon on the first level,
...finding a repeatable switch and spending the next 2 hours running back and forth over and over again, searching the entire map to figure out what it does,
...sniper chaingunners,

I guess thats more of what I hate in a singleplayer megawad rather then a single player map though. For deathmatch I guess the only thing I can think of is easy to get BFGs bug me alittle. I also stay away from competitive maps littered with deathtraps. (pits, crushers, tons of acid, ect...)

Actually, AEnima and Minigunner said the most hated points, if the maps consists only on this.

Crate Mazes makes you like a piece of Tetris trying find a good place do make a line.

What whodaman said, I hate sitting there for 10 whole minutes firing a chaingun or a shotgun at 8 different barons in the same room.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure you are going to make a jokewad/map based on what everyone is saying.
Derp.wad, thats all for the name.

And certainly someone will download it to see if have some "derpiness" inside the maps.
