Okay people, these are your basic needs, if you want to get into making modifications for Zandronum.

- The ZDoom Wiki - This is your best friend. Use it well. Below are some quick links if you're too lazy to search. - Zandronum Wiki - Zandronum-specific features are documented here.

Map creating tools:

- Doom Builder 1 - There still are people who use the first one. - Doom Builder 2 - The most used map creator around. For more information on the plug-ins click this link.

WAD/PK3 editing tools:

- SLADE 3 - Best WAD/PK3 editor around (It's basically SlumpEd & XWE together and a lot more). (PNGout, PNGCrush and DeflOpt are PNG optimizers for SLADE 3)

- SlumpEd
- eXtendable Wad Editor (XWE)

(I've put these here too, just in case.)

Image editing tools:

- GIMP - A free alternative to Photoshop.

- Paint.NET - Another alternative, it resembles Windows Paint, but is more advanced.

Sound editing/creation tools:

- Audacity

ACS Compilers:

- ACC ACS Compiler 1.55 (Windows)

SVN Builds (Warning!! Use them at your own risk!):

- Doom Builder 2 SVN
- SLADE 3 SVN
- ACC ACS Compiler SVN

Doom Builder 2 Configurations:

Coming soon.

Also the Editing sub-forum is here, so if you're having trouble with stuff, then feel free to create a thread or go to our editing channel #zamapping and request help there.

If you have any useful links, then please post them in this thread. I'll try to update this with more stuff later.

I have a Dropbox mirror of DoomBuilder 1.66 in case anyone finds 1.68's changes too cumbersome: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9403129/Doom/d ... der166.zip

iirc, Doombuilder 2 is slow on my pc, I should Try DB 1 soon :/

Also you might want to add that XWE is very outdated and SlumpEd too.

You might like 1.66, that's what I used on my laptop. (Hell, I think I even remember using an older version on my old Pentium 1 PC years back)

Modded ScriptPNG that doesn't erase the grAb chunk you use for offsets. (Source)

How to use: Select your files (CTRL+Drag, Shift+Click, whatever.), drop them onto ScriptPNG.cmd

It's a quite hefty bruteforce optimizer, so don't use it for files above 256x256, unless you feel like waiting quite a while.

There's also Color Quantizer for whacking your nice and colorful image into a 8-bit PNG.
Protip: Use the mask for bits you just can't get to look right tweaking with the two bars. (Usually you'd keep the top one around 122, and the bottom one at 6-10)

To increase the priority of the masked bits (it supports variable levels of such, so apply the new "denser" mask to the spot you want it to prioritize) click on the black circle to the right of the mask icon.
If you guys want, I can more or less give a (somewhat poor) description of what the two bars do. (Only based off experience with them.)

FL Studio 10: Free Edition is a good choice for editing sounds or creating MIDI music for the game.

It includes tutorials and even basic templates to get you going on the right track.

Oh yeah, almost forgot;
Have a speedy AoTuV commandline ogg encoder. (Protip: -q 0.5-1.35)
