If you want to blame UDMF, atleast have a solid reason todo so. I will mention that I have been making UDMF maps for some time, I personally rather enjoy it and taking advantage of its many features and now - nearly limitless of how far you can go with the map designs. The bugs you have outlined is not part of UDMF, but a bug - more likely with the Zandronum version you are using or some other dependencies. In addition, if you are using new UDMF features that is part of the recent builds of (G)ZDoom - while using Zandronum 1.0 (that uses ZDoom 2.3 as base, if I remember correctly?) then of course things will not work.

Have you tried further debugging this map by trying Zandronum 2.0 alpha build or even took IBM's suggestion of trying GZDoom's latest stable version, or did you just gave up, blamed UDMF, downgraded to the binary map format, and called it a day?

Indeed so, I didn't particularly look at the dates when I posted.

I would advise on trying out Zandronum 2.0 and GZDoom's latest stable build. Zandronum's UDMF support is - - outdated to say the least, my project has some minor issues with Zandronum's current UDMF implementations -- again, Zandronum is severely outdated from ZDoom's current code base - even with Zandronum 2.0 being based on ZDoom 2.5.0, it's still a bit far off from ZDoom 2.7.x

If it's not happening to anyone else (or that many), i wonder if there could be some option that affects this.

Edit:

No problems for me thus far. Assuming i test the WDIEX02 map. Testing WDIZEB02 didn't let me go to it saying there is no next map. WDIZEB02 does also seem to have a lot more errors listed in the console than WDIEX02.

Edit2:

Haven't been able to find any problems with the file. You didn't... try converting between formats did you?

I failed Image GZDB launched this in Skill3, while I startplayed it on Skill4. Skybox had skills 1-3 flags. As well as other missing items.
I never really worried about that, since DiH automatically paste Thing for all skills. Uh oh, eh.
