A major eding problem

#1

Post by Powerman » Wed May 15, 2013 4:31 am

I have a PK3 of Haraldo-OK's Doomfortress. A newer one than what is out on the net. Well it references The minigun and grenade launcher. Well in normal everyday editing you'd just take it out. Well what happens when I edit it, is anything else turns into shit. Literally everything. Into that stupid coded stuff in xwe. So if someone else can fix this coding issue or talk me through what to do that'd be freaking great since i refound my 2fort map!

I figured it out, XWE doesn't like certain pk3 files (or any perhaps) You need to use at least slumped

NOTE: use slade 3.0.2, its the latest thing you can get and its not way as buggy as either XWE or SlumpEd

XWE is so horrendrously outdated it's not even funny.

As said, use Slade. (or if you really prefer, SlumpEd)

Well Now I am confused, I was wondering how to look at the skulltag.pk3 ( I know it's old but it's just for learning purposes)

Skulltag.pk3 is actually skulltag.pk7 iirc. It's a 7zip file, which none of the Doom-centric archive tools can open yet. Get 7zip or a newer version of winrar.

Same logic goes for zandro.pk3 and the old skulltag_data.pk3, I believe.
