I'm currently trying to map in Doom Builder, and I'm not so happy with the regular music it uses. So I downloaded XWE, and when I run it, this is what comes up:
"Failed to create key Doom.wadfile\shell\EditXWE."
After that,
"List index out of bounds (0)"
and XWE comes up. When I select my map:
"Access violation at address 00442E62 in module 'XWE.exe'. Read
of address 00000050."
So now what? I can't open up my map, and its bugging me.
Please help!

RE: XWE Help?
Here's your problem. XWE is known to corrupt WADs if another program has edited it while it was open. Look for backups of the WAD (.bak extension or so, they are older copies of your WAD file), they should be in the same folder your original WAD is. Sans that, you're screwed.Overlord wrote:So I downloaded XWE
Have a safer alternative to XWE while at it.
RE: XWE Help?
Gee, thanks. I've been having that trouble for so long, I didn't know when it would end.

When you're editing any file in any format, never have it open in more than one program at a time, unless maybe those programs are specifically designed to sync with each other in real-time.
Is it safe to edit a wad in Slade and DoomBuilder (1 or 2) at the same time? I would assume not, unless specifically told otherwise by somebody I trust.

RE: XWE Help?
I would never recommend opening something in db2 and spade at the same time. I think it blew up one of my wads before. (always have multiple ways to backup)
