Summary0002104: Requesting vid_maxfps
DescriptionIt would be cool to have this feature implemented because, as some people, I mostly play with uncapped fps and the only downside being is that the game is too smooth due to having a decent GPU (I get 200/300 fps) I also hate to use the Vsync because it feels totally different.

I see the CVar is there in recent builds, but it doesn't do anything.

vid_maxfps works for me but only in software and after testing the latest zdoom and gzdoom dev builds (as of this moment: zdoom-x64-2.8pre-1615-gf10416a and gzdoom-g2.1.pre-1134-ga59824c) it appears vid_maxfps still only works in software, i dont know if this is intended or not

I don't see why it would be intentional... Would be nice to lock Zan to my refresh rate so I can partially reduce tearing without need for VSync.

Can't believe you guys finally implemented it. It's been a while since I have opened the tracker.
Anyway, nice to see that you guys are listening and being open minded to the minus suggestions while there are bugs to fix in priority.

So, how is it working? Oh well now that I've got 3.0 in hand I should test it myself :p

Quote from Gez
Also, vid_maxfps was not implemented in the OpenGL renderer AFAIK; it is only available for the software renderer under Windows and Linux.

Under the software renderer it appears to work just fine.
