It's in decimal notation, so 0.25 = 25%, 0.5 = 50%, etc etc
Anything past the 40% mark can be considered popular.

Ok so Cata said he wants to implement a new Demonic tier that is supposed to be harder to get than Diamond hats. I've tried explaining to him why with his droprate it won't be anywhere close but he won't listen.

So here are some statistics:
Diamond hat tier rarity is:container drop rate*diamond modifier=0.9%*0.9%=0.000081% which is less than 1 every 10000 rounds.
Demonic hat tier is wonky, as it is the base container drop rate but it only occurs if you win the round. Therefore, any containers you get when you win a round will automatically become demonic.

Therefore, demonic drop rate=container drop rate*percentage of games won=0.9%*percentage of rounds won


Catastrophe argues it would only be easier to get Demonic than Diamond if you won every round. This is obviously not true if you look at the numbers.

Diamond:0.9%*0.9%
Demonic:0.9%*% of rounds won


This means that in order for Demonic to be less common in general than diamond, most players must win less than 0.9% of rounds played. This is obviously not true, and actually impossible (since it would require over 100 people on the server;unregistered people are obviously not part of this statistic as they don't receive any sort of containers and contribute positively to the rarity of both Diamond and Demonic in the same way). If I made any sort of error feel free to point it out. If not, make sure to bug Catastrophe about it before he releases this new thing.

I must agree though that it sounds easier to get delonic hats, but there would be more to base this on if he himself spoke of this.

No more writing on my damn phone, here is the math:
0.009 * 0.009 = 0.000081
0.000081 = 0.0081%

There we go.
Like any other unit, percentages are multiplied up.
(n%)^2 = n^2 * %^2
0.9^2 = 0.81 && (1/100)^2 = 1/10000
As the result is to be shown in percentage though, only one '%' is resolved into the number, hence 0.0081.

My main argument for why it will be less common than diamond is because demonic containers only drop when you win against six players or more in a server, draws do not count. Also unlike regular containers, they don't roll for each person in the server and just roll once if you win, (assuming you are logged in ofc). This should make the total number of demonic containers in-game much less than diamond containers.

To my knowledge there are perhaps only three people with diamond-tier containers in the server since we launched the first version months ago. I wouldn't mind lowering the drop rate of demonic containers to 1/250 instead of 1/100, but is that something I'd like to do without seeing the drop-rate in action myself? No.

The video was played on DeathMatch with at least 20 bots always respawning so now worries there won't be so much effects on a normal server.

This mod is glorious as ever, and I really like the new account system. Glad to see it make a comeback.

I was considering about contributing a skin/class, though I'm not sure if positions for additional skins are available.
The skin would be Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong 64, and he'd have a gibbing death.
It'd probably look something like this.

Yeah, they're customs. I took a frame of DK jumping in the air, detached the limbs, added blood, and rotated each part three times to make the spinning frames of each limb.

The "green" part of the skin that changes color based on the user would be the tie.
If you guys like it enough I'd be more than happy to make the images into separate files and align them in Slade, as well as provide sounds.
