Well, E3 has come and gone, with no new metroid even hinted. Nothing. Well, at least I have Dreadnought...

I blame Other M for killin' it.

Maybe nintendo will try again (maybe they'll pull a NSMB and make another 2D metroid, that'd be pretty cool) in the future, but currently, Other M's bad atmosphere has probably made them not wanting to try it again for a bit.

Other M was four years ago?

Damn

My memory is getting flaky.

Still, Metroid: Dreadnought's the best thing we have for now (Can't wait to see beam combos, heh).

Other M was a slap in the face to all Metroid fans IMHO. Nintendo has progressively slid down hill for years when their major contributers resigned.

IMHO, Metroid was at the top of it's game with Super, Fusion, and the Prime trilogy series (Almost forgot Hunters on the DS). And when Other M happened... Jesus it got shitty.

Don't worry! You had that one, uh, what’s-her-name! Baronessa! From that one game, now with a Samus costume! You know, with the crotch-vents and steel underboobs!

METROID’S STILL ALIVE GUYS

...I joke because it's painful, hahahahaha.
But with that out of the way, I'm curious. With no real forseeable Metroid entries in the future, what sort of things would you guys want to see in future installments of Dreadnought? There's a whole ton ton ton of things other Metroid fans have been requesting of me, and I'd really like to see what you guys would consider cool.

A few of these have been discussed here before, but I figure I might as well lay out the options here and now and see what you guys would be interested in.

1: Extra features/maneuvers from other Metroids? (i.e. the sidehop, the Shinespark, bomb combos, etc)
2: Extra items from other Metroids? (i.e., the visor, screw attack, etc)
3: Extra characters in the vein of Metroid Prime: Hunters? (A space pirate, a Federation soldier, etc)
4: More maps, finishing up the DM mappack and/or maybe a few short singleplayer/co-op missions about hunting bounties?
5: Metroid enemies acting as (optional) replacements for the Doom bestiary?
6: iwad dependency removed to play in Heretic, Hexen, Chex Quest, etc?
7: Extra graphical polish? (Cleaning up the skin, tweaking the arm cannon, new sprites for the weapon pickups/bombs/etc)
8: Zero Suit mode? (Fast meleeing with muay thai/krav maga, plasma pistol, sneaking around and taking out enemies covertly)
The Ranger - New class for HeXen.
ZDoom Wars - I drew some pictures.
Samsara - Some class-based mod I guess?
Metroid: Dreadnought - I am a dumb fanboy.
DemonSteele - ~come with me to anime world~

1. Varia suit or other item that could act as hazard suit from Doom, since there's none at the moment.
2. Visors of course :D I loved how you could scan surroundings, although I don't think this would be easy to make. But infrared would be cool (in place of goggles?), and maybe some sort of xray visor which lets you see nearby items through walls? No idea.
6. Definitely yes! :D

NUMBER 5 FOR SURE.

That's what I care about most, haha. Just so you know I'm still working on that map, I've started over like four times, but progress has slowed because I just got Dark Souls 2...

Singleplayer/Co-op missions would be great. I got a friend of mine to try this out and he was disappointed there wasn't an original campaign (but then he blasted some demons anyways). Co-op would be particularly rad, especially if you make some new metroid enemies! New characters could be cool too, even if they were just skins. Basically, all those things you said would be awesome and I would marry you if you did them.

IT'S REAL
"The [2D] Metroid people don’t really like much anymore" That is BS to umpteenth degree. I love how they just assume what's best for everyone. If they are gonna release another Metroid game, they better go 2D first and not bounce around on the timeline.

You realize it was supposed to read "The [2D] Metroid people don't really get much anymore", right? Especially since they say that a game in Metroid Prime's style hasn't been made at all in a while, so you know, even with the typo you should be able to infer what he meant.

yeah, he was saying we don't get many 2d metroid styled games, then went on to list the few we did get (batman Arkham Blackgate etc)

Maybe I read too fast. Either way, this is not the first time I heard that.

I say 3, Metroid Prime: hunters was a blast for me, diferent characters offline skirmish, diferent arenas..... seriously, one of the most original games at least in terms of character design.

Also, TerminusEst13, you can do something diferent.... adding the "bro" of Samus Aran from the "Amiga"...... TURRICAN!!!

im having an issue with this, when I choose an episode and select the difficulty it says "there are normalized enemy spawns, you are aspiring for valor"
nothing I hit on my keyboard sends me to the actual game or the next screen... what am I doing wrong?
